Amsale
It was her own wedding that got Amsale Aberra into designing wedding dresses. In 1985 when she was planning her wedding, she couldn't find a simple wedding dress she liked. This type of dress seemed to be missing from the bridal market, and so Amsale, a graduate of FIT, started to create custom-made gowns in her New York City apartment. She found a niche in the bridal market, and ever since has been delivering elegant and understated luxury gowns worn by everyone in Hollywood—from television and movies like 27 Dresses and Grey's Anatomy to celebrities like Julia Roberts and Halle Berry.
Her Fall 2017 bridal collection, which the Ethiopian-born designer describes as "diverse, textured, and feminine," doesn't stray from her signature simple designs but plays with details and fabrics. "Beading is minimal this season, the focus has been on texture and techniques," Amsale said. You can see a lot of tulle pleating on Amsale's runway this season, which "adds lightness and texture" to the classic silhouettes. Amsale pictures a fashion-forward modern bride in touch with tradition wearing her wedding dresses. Ultra-feminine and ultra-chic, it's hard not to find a dress you love in her 2017 fall collection.
