7 Beauty Products for the Bride Who Doesn't Like to Wear Makeup
We stand firmly behind the belief that you should always do what's best for you-especially when it comes to your wedding, a day when you want to feel happy, comfortable, and confident. If you don't love wearing a lot of makeup in your daily life, but want to add just a little something extra for your wedding day, we've rounded up several products that will leave you looking and feeling like you're wearing almost nothing. (We had makeup-averse friends and editors put them to the test first.) Here are the ones that they, to their surprise, absolutely loved.
If you're looking for a one-and-done product, try It Cosmetics' "Your Skin But Better" CC+ Cream. The name pretty much says it all-it actually does make your skin look like it's perfect without feeling heavy. As a bonus, it has SPF 50 already in it, so you don't have to layer sunscreen underneath, and the product contains a bevy of skin-glowing ingredients like hyaluronic acid, antioxidants, vitamins, and collagen.
Lip and Cheek Tint
Our tester was very wary of Guerlain's "La Petite Robe Noire Lip and Cheek Tint" at first-the bottle is neon pink and the liquid inside is, too-but once she dabbed it on, she was surprised to see how sheer it was. In fact, at first, she could barely see it at all, but as the day wore on, the color increased just a touch, making her lips and cheeks seem naturally pink and flushed. ("Kind of like how they looked when I was younger and too oblivious to appreciate that natural color," she says.) It also has a really subtle, elegant smell-almost floral with a touch of powder.
Our tester actually picked up Clinique's "Water-Resistant Eyeliner" from her mom, who is an expert at applying subtle makeup. Instead of a pencil, pen, or liquid, it's one of those eyeliners that you dip into water and apply with a brush. You may have to clean up after yourself with a Q-tip the first few times you draw it on your upper and lower lash lines before you get the hang of it, but it gives you soft definition that brings out your eyes. "It's totally worth the 30-second cleanup," our tester says.
For lashes that don't look too dramatic, our testing team loved tried-and-true Neutrogena "Healthy Lengths Mascara." They recommend using an eyelash curler first, then apply the mascara to get lashes that look naturally long and feathery. It also gets bonus points for the fact that it comes in three shades: two blacks and one black brown.
If you're not very adept at applying eye makeup, RMS's powder "Beauty Swift Shadows" are the easiest to apply-they're virtually impossible to make a mistake with, because they blend so easily onto the eyelid. We especially love the shade Garden Rose, a dusty rose, which is sheer and subtle and weightless.
Having groomed eyebrows is an easy way to get away with wearing little makeup-you look polished and your features stand out with just one great eyebrow gel. Just make sure you use a shade that's a touch lighter, rather than darker, than your brows, otherwise it can look unnatural. Lashfood's "Browfood Tinted Brow Enhancing Gelfix" gets bonus points for the fact that it has peptides in it that help your brow hairs grow in full and strong.
If you don't love makeup, you may also be reticent to wear traditional fragrance-at least our testers are-but they do love Juliette Has a Gun's "Not a Perfume" eau de parfum spray, a minimalist scent that's also hypoallergenic. As the name suggests, it's not strong, just a woody, earthy scent that's made up of one note-cetalox-for a soft, barely-there smell.
