Meghan Markle's Mom, Doria Ragland, Might Be Moving to London
After Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got married in May, they moved into their first official home-a 21-room apartment in Kensington Palace, surrounded by family. Their neighbors already include Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their growing family and future newlyweds Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank. Now, there might be another close relative on the royal block. Markle's mother, Doria Ragland, is allegedly relocating to London to be closer to her daughter, reports The Daily Mail.
It's uncertain if Ragland will be be moving into the palace (or nearby!) just yet. But we do know that around the time of the royal wedding, Ragland quit her job as a social worker, which would free her up for relocation. According to an insider, Ragland is "beside herself with excitement" and reportedly ready to make a permament cross-Atlantic trip as soon as next month-just in time for her 62nd birthday.
The source also revealed that Ragland was "deeply impressed" by the royal family, which could be another reason why she wants to live across the pond. She's already bonded with several members of her son-in-law's clan. As the only member of Markle's family to attend her wedding, Ragland spent the day before the wedding getting to know the Queen-something that made quite an impression on the mother of the bride. Prince Harry also helped Ragland adjust to his family's royal status by humanizing his high-profile relatives (he allegedly recounted numerous stories about the queen as a grandmother). Ragland then met the rest of the royals, including Prince Charles, whom she laughed and held hands with at St. George's Chapel.
Ragland's move to England could also be signal that the newlyweds will add to their family sooner rather than later. Sources close to the couple have aided this theory. "Having children is definitely a priority," an insider told Us Weekly in June. "[Meghan] and Harry want to start a family right away-and she'll start trying as soon as she can."
