Duchess Kate Can't Wait to Meet Prince Harry's Girlfriend, Meghan Markle
"Kate is really keen to see what Meghan is all about."
Meeting the family is a big moment in any relationship, but especially when you're dating a royal. But Suits actress and Prince Harry's girlfriend, Meghan Markle, needn't worry: Us Weekly says an important member of the royal family is looking forward to the introduction: Duchess Kate!
"Kate is really keen to see what Meghan is all about," a source told the publication. So when will this regal introduction take place? Probably, says Us, on Markle's next visit to London, before Harry embarks on a Caribbean tour later this month!
The Duchess won't be the first person Markle meets from Harry's clan: Us previously reported that the American actress attended her boyfriend's birthday party in September, after dating for three months, where she was acquainted with Harry's dad, Prince Charles, and his cousin, Princess Eugenie.
"I'd call the visit a coming-out party. It would have been the first time some of his close friends got to meet her," an insider told the news source. How did it go? "It went really well," another insider revealed. "Everyone loved Meghan."
Unfortunately, the couple has been met with some negativity as well. Kensington Palace just released an official statement confirming that Prince Harry and Markle are dating, but also addressing the "harassment currently being experienced by Meghan Markle and her family" regarding her relationship with the royal. "Since he was young, Prince Harry has been very aware of the warmth that has been extended to him by members of the public," the letter reads, but adding that "He is also aware that there is significant curiosity about his private life"-something "he has never been comfortable with."
"But the past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public-the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments." The statement went on to say that the prince is "worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her," and that "It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm."
Now that's what we call defending the one you love! The couple seems to be pretty serious: Sources have even suggested that an engagement could be in their future. "It wouldn't surprise me if he's already thinking about engagement just because that's where his head goes but that's not where the relationship is at right now," E! News quoted a source as saying. "This is totally Harry. The problem with Harry is when he falls, he falls hard. He goes in big time."
