Ellen DeGeneres Says Portia de Rossi "Loves Me for Everything That I Am"
The comedian shared what makes their relationship work.
In the latest Good Housekeeping, Ellen DeGeneres shared her secrets to living a happier life. While everything she said (as always) was pure gold, we're especially keen on her marriage advice. The host advised everyone to make time for their loved ones, which led the way to her talking about her own relationship. Based on the star's comments, she and Portia de Rossi are a match made in heaven.
According to the magazine, no matter what, DeGeneres and her wife eat dinner together. (Sometimes that dinner's accompanied by The Bachelorette, because just like us, they're suckers for the show.) Their quality time together reinforces one thing: The two are on the same wavelength.
"Portia understands me completely," Ellen shared. "In our vows, she recited a quote-'It is good to be loved. It is profound to be understood'-and to me, that's everything. What 'I love you' really means is 'I understand you,' and she loves me for everything that I am," she added. Overall, their love revolves around two things: "She supports me and makes me happy."
DeGeneres and de Rossi have been happily married since August 2008. In fact, the couple's just approaching their nine-year wedding anniversary! Back in the fall, DeGeneres shared that after all these years, their priorities are still "each other." Nothing makes that clearer than this recent interview-boy, do we love this pair!
