Tips for Ensuring Your Bridesmaids Love the Dresses You Choose for Them
There's no need to have them pick their own dresses if you keep these tips in mind.
You don't have to have been a bridesmaid to know that the number one complaint of all bridal parties is about the dress they'll be wearing. It doesn't have to be that way, though. There are plenty of beautiful, flattering dresses out there that your best friends will love. But how do you make sure they'll love the gowns you pick out? Here are a few tips to keep your ladies (and you) happy with your choice.
Start by asking them what they like.
You don't have to take their opinions as instructions, but it's helpful to know what your bridesmaids are and are not comfortable with. If they prefer to wear something modest, something form fitting, or something simple, they'll let you know. You can have this conversation in a casual way by asking about their favorite dresses or dresses they've worn in the past that they couldn't wait to take off. It's all good insight that'll help you make the best selection.
Consider what they'd wear in real life.
You wouldn't want your bridesmaids to feel like they're not themselves in their dresses, so considering what they'd wear if they weren't bridesmaids is a good way to gauge what they'll be happy wearing on your wedding day. Though all your friends have their own unique style, there are likely to be options each of them will be thrilled with.
Give them choices.
If you don't want to let your bridal party pick their own dresses, you can still allow some involvement in the selection process. The best way to do this is to narrow down the options to a top three to five dresses and see what they gravitate toward. If you're comfortable with the look of a mix-and-match bridal party, you can give more options and let the ladies choose what works best for their personalities and body types.
Don't forget to make them feel special.
If you can make it work with your budget, cover the cost of your bridal party's hair or makeup so they feel special. Take the time to go for morning yoga or a hike together. Give them a shout out on social media, acknowledging how gorgeous (both inside and out) they are. If you all start the day feeling a hundred percent, your closest girls will feel good in any dress they put on.
