Will These Celebrity Couples Get Engaged in 2017?
Who do you think will propose next year? We have a few guesses...
Celebrity relationships face a whole lot of speculation—it's just what comes with being in the public eye. The more insider info we get, the more we feel like we know the couples firsthand. Based on what we've seen in 2016, there are a few famous duos we've got a special eye on. With things going as well as they are, we're wondering if proposals are down the road. First comes first, we're still waiting on a few of 2015's predictions (although two couples—Ciara and Russell Wilson and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham—did indeed get engaged). This year also introduced new star couples to ship. Just because we'd love to say "we told you so," here are 14 celebrity relationships we could see ringing in the New Year with a new ring in 2017.
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani
Since we first predicted the couple's engagement last year, things have further solidified between the two. Marriage rumors began this August, and in September, sources spilled that the couple might take the nuptial plunge this year. With new reports that the singers have finished up their wedding planning, it's only natural to assume that a proposal is on its way. The real question is whether or not it'll happen before the ball drops.
Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk
Anderson East and Miranda Lambert
Blake Shelton isn't the only one who's moved on. While he's found a new start with Gwen Stefani, his ex-wife has had a happy turnaround too. We learned in October that Lambert and boyfriend Anderson East have been talking marriage. How soon before the musician gets down on one knee?
Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes
Last year's prediction may have been premature, but it hasn't changed. In September, tabloids claimed that the two celebs got married, and though the news was proven false, there's no doubt they're still going strong. With over five years of love and two daughters between them, it's not at all far-fetched to picture the two at the altar.
Kit Harington and Rose Leslie
Rumor has it the Game of Thrones duo has been an item for years, but the pair only publicly announced that they were a couple a few months ago. Could the newfound openness mean they're ready to take their relationship to the next level?
Jack Antonoff and Lena Dunham
Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry
The actor and pop star started seeing each other after the Golden Globe Awards in January 2016, and by August the media wondered if Bloom planned to put a ring on it. Since then the pair's been as a cute as ever, even committing to a seriously devoted couple's costume. Perry's divorce from Russell Brand was years ago, and Bloom's ex Miranda Kerr is now happily engaged to Evan Spiegel. Having put their respective pasts behind them, are the two ready to try marriage again?
Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn
Though we admit we thought the pair would get engaged sooner, 2017 sounds like a great year to put the plan into action. The NFL quarterback's younger brother, Jordan Rodgers, is now engaged to The Bachelorette's JoJo Fletcher—with weddings in the air, maybe Aaron Rodgers will take the plunge, too.
Ben Hanisch and Amy Schumer
Schumer and Hanisch have been linked for a year—they just celebrated their anniversary with a not-so-romantic trip to Paris—and though the comedian plays coy (she captioned this Instagram photo "Lame") we think the pair is pretty smitten. Neither is shy about posting couple's pics, leading us to daydream about an upcoming engagement ring selfie.
Adele and Simon Konecki
The singer and her charity-CEO boyfriend just recently celebrated five years together. To make the day extra special, Konecki replaced confetti at her concert with love letters. If that's what he does for an anniversary, just imagine what a proposal would look like! Now that their son is getting older, maybe they'll have more time to talk marriage (we know they're talking more kids!). Regardless, Adele's played engagement-fairy-godmother long enough—it's time the girl got her own surprise!
Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander
The acting duo officially met on set in 2014, and nothing's pulled them apart since. Their shared film, The Light Between Oceans, was released in September and cast the couple as married. They sure pulled it off on-screen, so why not IRL?
Mobolaji Dawodu and Lupita Nyong'o
Actress Lupita Nyong'o and GQ Style fashion editor Mobolaji Dawodu went public in August, but were said to have begun dating toward the start of 2016. That means they've been together for roughly a year, and things are sure to be getting serious. Though the couple has kept relatively low-key, the pair looks happy together, and we're looking forward to seeing what comes next.
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid
America's been shipping the fan-favorite star couple since the model and musical artist were first linked in late 2015. Though they briefly separated, Hadid and Malik are back on, and it looks like any issues have been left in the past. Malik is 23, while Hadid is only 21, but the couple does live together, after all. Both also flaunt successful careers—Hadid just won Model of the Year at 2016's British Fashion Awards, and Zayn left One Direction long ago for a solo gig—which means they have the freedom to consider settling down.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
Too soon? Maybe ... but we can't help but wish for another royal wedding! In any case, we aren't the only ones speculating. The prince did publicly defend his girlfriend's honor (no small feat coming from the Kensington Palace) and Antigua and Barbados already invited the couple for their honeymoon!
