Running Errands Turned Into a Surprise Proposal for This Bride!
Six months after they started dating, Jessie, the general manager for the floral boutique Poppy Lane Design, moved in with her boyfriend Justin, who works in electrical sales for large corporations in Oklahoma City. Soon after, they started talking about getting engaged.
The pair spent a long weekend in Dallas visiting jewelers and when they went to Diamond Treasures, Jessie fell for a custom design with a pear-shaped diamond set in rose gold-even though she had always been a fan of a classic round solitaire diamond. Justin secretly bought it a few months later and kept it hidden in the house.
A few days after Jessie's birthday, and a year after dating Justin, Jessie was out shopping with a friend when the suggestion for a double date to celebrate came up-a decoy for Justin to propose. They settled on a nice restaurant and Jessie got dressed up. But Jessie got a call from her boss to run an errand to the Lycan Conservatory-a spot Jessie loves and considers one of Oklahoma City's best-kept wedding venue secrets.
Upon arrival, Justin was standing outside with Champagne and flowers. "She saw me and she knew," Justin recalls.
"When I walked up to the conservatory, I was shaking like a leaf," Jessie recalls. "With all of the nerves, I can't remember seeing the ring box in his pocket."
"I remember thinking I wanted him to stand up, so I could hug him. Afterward, I finally got to look at the ring, and I was in love."
Another part Justin planned for: capturing it all. Photographer Greer Inez was out of sight until Jessie said yes, shooting the whole time.
The answer was not only audible, but visual thanks to a "heck yes" print from Read Between the Lines, which was later hung in the front hallway of the couple's house.
After Jessie said yes to Justin's proposal, the twosome rushed off quickly-with the bride-to-be initially thinking they were heading somewhere to celebrate. But Justin pulled the car up to the same restaurant where they had their first date, and while he was speaking with the hostess, Jessie spotted her mom, his parents, and their best friends through the glass windows to the patio. "I screamed, ran through the place, and we all celebrated with bubbly on a beautiful evening in June," Jessie says.
