Alicia Keys Has the Best Date Night Advice for Married Couples
Spontaneity is key.
Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz have been married for almost seven years, making their relationship official during a small ceremony in France in July 2010 with the singer showing off her baby bump in a one-shoulder wedding dress from Vera Wang. Of course, famous celebrities were present at the ceremony, including Bono and Queen Latifah, according to PopSugar. Today, they couple has two sons together, Egypt, 6, and Genesis, 2. While both artists have to balance busy work schedules and taking care of the kids, they still manage to stay on top of their relationship. How do they do it? With date night, of course.
But it's not just your typical night out to dinner without the kids. It's full of spontaneity and something new each time. "[Swizz and I] like surprising each other and going on secret weekend dates," the 15-time Grammy Award winning singer told People. "One of us plans it and the other has no idea where we are going." Not only does it give them time away from everything else, but it also allows for their relationship to grow. "We've found some undiscovered gems and moments to take hikes or walks or just discover new things about life and each other. Those are my favorite times."
With Keys' busy schedule as a judge on NBC's The Voice and Swizz Beatz's music career, it's easy to see why something as simple as spending time alone is important for them. And with their date-night twist, featuring an element of surprise, it sounds like the perfect way to keep any marriage exciting!
