This Is What Priyanka Chopra's Mom Thinks About Her Upcoming Wedding to Nick Jonas
She's a fan of her future son-in-law.
It was a busy weekend for Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas: The pair confirmed their engagement and celebrated with a party in her home country of India. The event gave the families an opportunity to meet, and now, Priyanka's mother, Madhu Chopra, is speaking out about the celebration, her future son-in-law, and the couple's wedding plans.
Marie Claire reports that the Quantico actress's mom approved of the couple's traditional Hindu engagement party-which included a roka ceremony and prayer-and hopes their wedding will follow suit. "I definitely want a traditional Indian wedding. That's my only wish. I started the roka [ceremony] with a puja [worship ritual], which is important to me. I'm a modern mother but at heart, I'm quite conservative," she said. Madhu added that "Nick enjoyed the prayers during the puja. It was a new thing for him and he took it seriously. He followed what our panditji said, and chanted the Sanskrit mantras accurately. Both he and his parents did it beautifully. They are nice people."
It sounds like the pop star got quite the warm welcome into the Chopra family. Madhu confirmed this when she said that he is a "wonderful person" and is "calm and mature."
Nick's family's feelings are mutual. His brother, singer Joe Jonas, and his fiancée, Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner, both re-posted Priyanka and Nick's engagement-confirming photos on their Instagram accounts with congratulatory captions. "Wow. First I'm blessed with an incredible future brother-in-law, and now such an beautiful, inside and out, future sister-in-law," Sophie wrote. "I'm so excited to welcome you into the family @priyankachopra. I love you both."
