Two beauty pros share their best tips for keeping your hair and makeup in place when you're tying the knot somewhere tropical.
Tropical Getting-Ready Attire

If you're getting married on a tropical island or having your nuptials in a humid climate, you can imagine it may be a bit more difficult to stay fresh-faced and frizz-free. Don't worry, though, you can use the weather to your advantage. For starters: Try a more natural beauty look (the less makeup there will be to melt off of your face) and use the curl-boosting humidity to amp up your natural curls, if you have them. Here, six ways to beat the humidity, courtesy of hairstylist Sarah Potempa, who works with celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Leighton Meester, and makeup artist Sarah Lucero, Stila Global Executive Director of Makeup Artistry.

Embrace your natural hair texture-especially if you're wearing your hair down.

Humidity makes wavy hair more wavy, and curly hair curlier, so if your texture falls into either of these two categories, use a great styling product to define your curl pattern and reduce frizz. Potempa also recommends enhancing your curls with a .75-inch barrel curling iron. (She uses her own Beachwaver S.75 on her celebrity clients.) If you have naturally straight hair, make your locks look super sleek and shiny with a flat iron.

Prep with a flexible mousse.

"It boosts volume and shine while acting as a setting agent," Potempa says. Try Ouai Soft Mousse. She also likes to add a humidity-proof setting spray, like Living Proof's No-Frizz Humidity Shield, to lock down the style. Keep it on hand for touch-ups throughout the day.

Try wearing your hair up.

An updo will be far easier to maintain, Potempa says. Just control flyaways with a cream-based product because "they're water based, and prevents hair from being weighed down even in the highest humidity." We like Bumble and bumble Grooming Creme.

Moisturize and prime.

For a shine-free face, Lucero preps with a lightweight moisturizer. Even when it's hot outside, lotion will ensure makeup goes on evenly and smoothly. Try Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. Then, the pros says to wait a few minutes before adding a primer. She uses Stila One Step Prime, which contains antioxidants that promote a healthy complexion.

Layer textures of eye shadow.

Start with a cream shadow and add powder on top-it's a foolproof makeup artist secret. Try Bobbi Brown Longwear Cream Shadow and Clinique All About Shadow.

Waterproof your eyebrows.

Everyone knows waterproof mascara is a bridal staple, but waterproof is important for your eyebrows, too. "When you get a little sweaty from the humidity, or when you're just dancing the night away, you won't have to worry about wiping your brows," Lucero says. We love Benefit Gimme Brow Volumizing Eyebrow Gel, which has fibers in it that make your eyebrows appear fuller.
