Alexis Ohanian Reveals Serena Williams' Unique Pregnancy Cravings
You'll never believe what the tennis star sent her fiancé out for.
It sounds like Serena Williams spoke too soon! Just last month the mom-to-be told E! News that she hasn't had any pregnancy cravings, but her fiancé Alexis Ohanian has officially set the record straight with an Instagram video of himself late-night grocery shopping for the tennis pro. The Reddit co-founder took fans inside his Friday night shopping spree in Publix, revealing the unique and unexpected types of food his future wife has been asking for.
"It's Friday night, I'm at Publix, going shopping 'cause my fiancé has cravings," he said in the video. "I was told there would be cravings. I was not told they would be these. Zucchini, asparagus and… what's this one called again? Artichoke. There we go. Really? These are her cravings. It's amazing." He may not have been picking up the usual necessities like ice cream and potato chips, but Ohanian still proves he's a doting fiancé and father-to-be with his veggie haul.
Oddly enough, when Williams told E! News that she hadn't been experiencing cravings, she did admit that she was trying to stick to a healthier diet than she was used to. "I have just been trying to eat healthy and stay fit and definitely eating healthier than I normally do. It's pretty backwards," she said, adding that she'd been fueling up with lots of greens, vegetables, fish, and nuts. By the looks of Ohanian's shopping list, she's doing more than just sticking to this healthy eating plan-she's actually craving nutritious options now.
Although it seems likely that the couple won't think about their wedding until after their baby is born, Ohanian does have one very important plan in mind. Whenever the couple is ready to tie the knot, he'll have his late mother's wedding ring recast for Williams, he told Vogue. "One of the first things we really connected on at a deeper level was that she lost her sister during a formative time in her life and my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer when I was just 22, just as we were starting Reddit," Ohanian said. "For both of us, we learned at a young age the pain of loss, and I think for both of us, this helped make us who we are."
