Did Emma Stone Secretly Marry Her Fiancé Dave McCary?
The actress was recently seen wearing a wedding band, which spurred these rumors.
Emma Stone and Dave McCary announced their engagement publicly on Instagram this past December—and then went back to their private lives. They may, however, have recently taken the next step. The Oscar-winning actress appeared virtually on Reese Witherspoon's series Hello Sunshine last week, where her fans spotted a new accessory that could mean she already married her husband-to-be, Us Weekly reports. The video showed Emma wearing a gold band, instead of the pearl engagement ring she revealed at the end of 2019.
The actress may have also given a subtle hint that she and Dave are newlyweds during the interview's discussion on marriage and mental health. "If you marry an anxious man, you're going to have to know me the rest of my life," fellow guest, Dr. Harold Koplewicz, joked. Emma simply responded: "Thankfully, I didn't do that."
Many of her fans have since assumed that the two are now happily married—with a more formal wedding likely coming at a later date. "I think they got married but just didn't have the ceremony yet, which is exciting. So happy for her," one fan tweeted. The couple hasn't confirmed any of the rumors, but this type of nuptials would make sense for the quiet pair, who initially met in 2016 on Saturday Night Live, where Dave currently serves as a writer and segment producer, E! News reports.
As we wait for the duo to confirm that they have, in fact, tied the knot, we can only continue to speculate—but Emma has noted in recent in recent years that marriage and family would be in her future. In 2018, the actress said in an interview with Elle, "My perspective about kids has changed as I've gotten older. I never babysat or anything. As a teenager, I was like, I'm never getting married, I'm never having kids," she said. "And then I got older and I was like, I really want to get married, I really want to have kids."
