A Week in Aspen
Alexis, a freelance interior designer and prop stylist, and Stephen, a finance manager, put together a week-long celebration with hikes, group activities, and a rodeo for their guests to enjoy.
Rehearsal dinner guests were picked up in Jeeps and driven through the mountain scenery to Lynn Britt Cabin on Snowmass. The following morning, 65 guests rode the Silver Queen gondola up Aspen Mountain for a wedding set in the picturesque landscape.

The Invitations
The theme of the celebration was "a wedding in the clouds," inspired by the exquisite, elevated skyline at 11,212 feet. Alexis designed the invitations herself and had them printed on maple veneer by Cards of Wood.

The Ceremony
The 11 o'clock ceremony was officiated by Alexis's and Stephen's fathers, with a combination of Jewish readings and non-religious blessings in the natural setting of the wedding deck at the Aspen Mountain Club.
Arrangements of baby's breath set atop wooden poles formed the altar overlooking the mountains.

Multi-Purpose Programs
Alexis wrapped the programs around thin dowels; printed on the back of each were instructions for guests to cheer loudly and wave the program flags with "great gusto" at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Finishing Touches
An elaborate sound system amplified each word during the ceremony. Stephen thought it would be nice to have a mic "cube" like the ones at red carpet interviews, so Alexis designed something to dress up the microphone.

The Rings
Alexis and Stephen designed the delicate engagement ring with Steven Fox at Steven Fox Jewelers in Greenwich, CT, using Alexis's grandmother's diamond. The wedding bands the couple exchanged were also from Steven Fox.

Boutonniere
Stephen's boutonniere was meant to resemble a cloud, and it achieved just that with a small grouping of hydrangeas. It was finished off with diagonally striped ribbon.

The Bridal Look
Alexis wore a Valentino dress with intricately beaded cap sleeves. Her mother gave her a pair of diamond earrings to complete the look.
Her hair was done by Claudia Connell from the M Salon, and her subtle makeup was done by Christine Assalone of Full Circle Massage, Esthetics and Holistic Fitness.

Portraits on the Lift
Alexis and Stephen had certainly been on the lifts a few times, but never without the normal bundle of ski attire. They thought it would be a natural fit to take some wedding portraits there (and other guests followed suit).

Table Names
Continuing on with the cloud theme, each table's number was preceded by "cloud". Aspen Branch created the cloud-like centerpieces, which included baby's breath and white hydrangeas, and placed them in vintage tureens collected by Alexis and her mother.

Children's Table
The children at the reception were treated to a very special table of their own. Puzzles doubled as placemats, and the kids played with some of the feather birds from the centerpiece for extra entertainment.

Place Settings
The wood tables were left uncovered, and screen-printed paper placemats were set at each seat. A light-blue printed envelope was used as a place card; in each was a personal note from Alexis and Stephen, thanking guests for joining them.

Dessert Buffet
A light-as-air dessert buffet ended the reception on a high note: towers of meringues, pavlovas, and cake were just some of the cloud-inspired offerings.

Pavlova
A meringue cake with fresh berries was a welcome treat for the bride (who has a wheat allergy), as the dessert was gluten-free.

Hula-Hooping
After the reception, Alexis joined her friends and bridesmaids for an improptu hula-hoop session; the hoops had been set out for guests to enjoy as they arrived on the top of the mountain.
