Marry Me, Martha! 13 Predictions for FKA Twigs and Robert Pattinson's Wedding
The British pair are rumored to marry this summer. Here's how we see it all coming together.
When actor Robert Pattinson was first spotted with indie darling FKA Twigs (née Tahliah Barnett) last August, we all wanted to know more about the press-shy Brits' relationship. Besides a few snaps of them at Art Basel Miami and at the airport and FKA Twigs saying, "The positivity that I get from [my relationship] makes the more challenging aspects … very worth it," the pair had kept mum about their love. Fast-forward to April, when a friend of theirs leaked the news of their engagement, and then to May, when they appeared on the red carpet together for the first time, and that's where we come in. If we had the chance, how would we design their big day, which is reportedly happening this summer? And not that they asked, but in case you're listening, Robert and Tahliah, here's how we see it.
We can only assume the British pair (he's from London; she's from rural Gloucestershire) will gather their family and friends near London, and rumors of an "informal pub wedding" have been circling. We suggest London Town's Crate Brewery, which has a Brew Shed event space with a rustic vibe that includes exposed brick, stone-baked pizzas, and craft beer that's brewed on site.
His favorite color is gray, and her highly chill vibe tells us that clean and simple is the way to go for this no-fuss pair. Gray and white set a serene scene, but also leave room for a pop of color.
FKA Twigs wears unusual silhouettes and bright colors on the red carpet, so we'll go ahead and say there's a good chance she won't be walking down the aisle in a conventional shape or shade. We're leaning toward Vivienne Westwood's "Grand Kilt Dress," a silk faille number that's a gorgeous café au lait color.
FKA Twigs's gorgeous skin means she'll be able to rock a glowy natural look like no other.
While her makeup may be simple and pretty, we suspect she'll be rocking her favorite, Wah Nails, for the big day.
Tahliah told Rookie magazine that her hair is one of two things: "It's either beautiful—curly and shiny and suited to humid weather and I feel like the girl from that Michael Jackson video 'The Way You Make Me Feel'—or it's a nightmare, frizzy and dry and all over the place no matter what I do." We choose the former, mostly because her ringlets would look especially gorgeous in a half-updo that lets the curls loose.
Okay, we might not know much, but we do know this: Pattinson has modeled for Dior in the past, he wears it on the red carpet, and, most important, he looks ridiculously handsome in their suits.
As someone who's been spotted with flowers in her hair, we can't see FKA Twigs holding a traditional bouquet as she walks down the aisle. Instead, she'll probably rock the bouquet—in her hair. Maybe it will even be made of roses, which Pattinson gifted her when she played a sold-out show in New York City in November.
The Guest List
We suspect that the laid-back pair won't be throwing a celeb-filled fête. However, Sienna Miller and her fiancé, Tom Sturridge, longtime friends of Pattinson, are responsible for introducing him to FKA Twigs. Another potential reveler is Tahliah's fashion designer friend Carri Munden and her stylist best friend Karen Clarkson of the London boutique Found and Vision.
"I love making breakfast," FKA Twigs told Essence in December 2014. Thankfully, the first meal of the day is delicious at night, too, especially when packaged as small bites for cocktail hour. These mini croque-monsieurs, French toast sticks, mini quail eggs, and doughnuts are serious morning glories.
The First Dance
The daughter of a salsa dancer, FKA Twigs moved when she was 17 to begin her career as a dancer in London, where she performed backup to Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, and Taio Cruz. So we know that the first dance is going to be awesome. The real mystery is the song. She's been said to love Billie Holiday, while he's said of John Lee Hooker's "Solid Sender" that "If I could have a song as a wife … "
Neither one of them is a big fan of sweets, so we don't envision a towering confection. Instead, we suggest individual angel food cakes topped with spun sugar.
We imagine that the super-private pair will want a similarly discreet trip, perhaps to a private island resort where they'll feel away from it all and can celebrate their new status without a paparazzi glare. The Song Saa in Cambodia has only 27 suites, all with ocean views and plunge pools. In a word: paradise.
