10 Ways to Liven Up Your Ceremony
Sounds of Celebration
Turn up the volume and the fun during your ceremony with these festive ideas from real weddings.
Ribbon-tied tambourines, kazoos, and other noisemakers were placed on guests seats, along with packets of confetti, at Gabe and Amy's outdoor fete. As the newlyweds exited, everyone jammed on the musical instruments.
Bride Alexis wrapped her ceremony programs around thin dowels; printed on the back of each were instructions for guests to cheer loudly and wave the program flags with "great gusto" at the conclusion of the ceremony.

A Seedy Celebration
Cones of birdseed (made by bride Alivia's maid of honor) and horns added fun and whimsy to the ceremony. Stickers read: "Throw the Seed, Blow the Horn, and Shout Hooray! When Scott and Alivia come back down your way!"
Attendees at this wedding in Guerneville, California wanted to do something special to surprise the newlyweds, so a pal rounded up a dozen people to "score" the first kiss. When the newlyweds turned to face the crowd, signs proclaiming "10" or "9.5" shot up.
New Orleans-Style Ruckus
Tambourines, horns, and whistles turned Elizabeth and Colin's Bahamian ceremony into a NOLA-inspired celebration.
Instead of clapping or tossing confetti, Sorenne and Matt's wedding guests were asked to fire off toy guns when the newlyweds kissed and as they walked up the aisle.
Fun and Games
Vanessa and Calvin designed ceremony programs as booklets modeled after a kid's activity pad with built-in pencil holders to keep guests occupied before the ceremony got under way.
Cheers of Joy
Whitney and Parker screen-printed hankies with their wedding date and the word "Yippee!" for wedding guests to wave during the recessional.
A Toss Table
Abigail and Jamey set up a different kind of bar for their ceremony. Their "toss table" consisted of hand-painted pieces of wood from local fruit-market and boxes of different kinds of ammo for guests to create their own bowl of goodies to throw during the recessional.
