Get All the Details From Nicky Whelan's and Kerry Rhodes' Beverly Hills Wedding
It was the perfect unplugged celebration.
Nicky Whelan and Kerry Rhodes are officially husband and wife! This past Saturday, the Australian actress, most widely known for her role as Pepper Steiger on the TV series Neighbours, and the former New York Jets player, celebrated their marriage at the Beverly Hills Hotel with their family and closest friends. According to People, there were even a few notable celebrity guests, including Brenda Song, AnnaLynne McCord, and Marina Sirtis. With the bride in a long-sleeve J'Aton Couture wedding dress and the groom donning a soft blue tux from Tom James, Whelan and Rhodes finally tied the knot after getting engaged last February. It's clear the new Mr. and Mrs. couldn't be happier about finally making it official.
"We love the tradition of marriage, and we love being able to call each other husband and wife," Whelan told People. "We both understand that our relationship takes work, and we made a choice that that's what we are wanting. Both of our parents are still together, and so we have been around a very traditional environment our whole lives. We want to carry that through." Coming from different parts of the world, it was even better that all sides of their families could be there to celebrate with them."We had family from Australia and Alabama and the U.K. all in one room," Whelan said. "It was an incredible energy of love and laughter."
The couple had everything you'd hope for in a wedding. Their wedding bands (both exquisite large sparklers) came from Rafaello & Co., the white and green flower arrangements were created by Petals LA, and their three-tier wedding cake was baked by none other than Cake Boss Buddy Valastro. Of course, the sweet dessert was topped with flower decorations that perfectly matched the florals the couple used throughout their day.
But what made their celebration even more special for everyone? Not allowing cellphones into their big event. "It was amazing to watch everyone get up and communicate and dance-not one person was looking down all night," said Whelan. "It really proved about point about how incredible people are when they come together and don't have their cell phones." Now that sounds like the perfect unplugged fairytale wedding to us. Congratulations to the happy couple!
