Temperley Bridal is a London-based wedding dress brand that describes itself as "quintessentially British." It's best known for its dreamy designs that don't shy away from statement elements—colorful floral embroidery is a staple of the line, for example. Alice Temperley, the company's founder, turns to the drama and decadence of the past to inform her looks. She wants her brides to cater to their fantasies by wearing something elegant and ethereal.
This season, we spoke with Temperley before the showing of her latest collection, which was unveiled at Bridal Fashion Week. In the interview, she shared her most recent inspiration: "antique botanical drawings and vintage lingerie." According to her, the newest styles speak to a number of personalities, "from bohemian to classic to glamorous." That means that there's lots of lace, tulle, and silk, plus intricate embellishments including crystals and sequins. There's a resurgence of pastel flower patterns, too, which stays true to the brand's aesthetic. You'll also find the standard "couture craftsmanship" that defines the brand's quality and features designs done by hand.
We think that the "Primrose" gown is pretty representative of the vibe of the new batch of wedding dresses. With its playful accents and layered skirt, it's both whimsical, and as Temperley described, "opulent." The optional palette of pink, purple, and blue is also hard to forget.
