Serena Williams Says She Wanted a "Strong" Wedding
Just like the athlete herself.
Newlywed and new mom Serena Williams just appeared on the cover of Vogue with her daughter, Alexis Olympia. While interviewing for the magazine, she dished on her recent wedding, which was just as impressive as she is.
"I never wanted a traditional wedding," the athlete shared. "I wanted a strong wedding." The adjective is especially fitting for the star, considering her powerful personality on and off of the tennis court. And, like most of her goals, she masterfully achieved this one. Her big day was attended by a notable list of celebrities, including Beyoncé. Everything from her caped Alexander McQueen dress ("I felt like a princess and a superwoman all at once," she previously shared) to her entertainment (Vogue notes that award-winning singer Cynthia Erivo performed) wowed.
At the end of last month, Williams took to Instagram to reflect on her relationship with husband Alexis Ohanian. In her post, she called him her "rock" and "backbone." "I love you Alexis you make me excited to wake up every morning knowing I'll get to see you," she added. The slideshow highlighted 10 of her top moments, which include Ohanian proposing, her pregnancy, kissing her groom at the altar, and Ohanian calling her his wife for the first time.
