Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish's Ranch Wedding in Montana
Kate and Michael
With a cast of their closest friends and family, and jaw-dropping scenery provided by the great state of Montana, actress Kate Bosworth married director Michael Polish in a weekend-long celebration that was nothing short of cinematic.
The mountaintop wedding on August 31, 2013, began when Kate rode up in a horse-drawn carriage, her cathedral-length veil and 16 feet of a custom Oscar de la Renta gown billowing behind her.
The Weddings team designed paper fans that served as programs. Each listed the couple’s family and quoted Jasper, who spoke at the ceremony, as well as actor Walton Goggins, who officiated.
The new Mr. and Mrs. kissed on their way back up the aisle. Michael wore a custom Brooks Brothers suit and shirt, and Kate chose Stephen Russell earrings.
Our editors designed a married monogram for Kate and Michael, then Embroidery by Jonathan decorated a banner with it. The flag, attached to a carriage, was flipped up and hidden away pre-ceremony, then revealed once they were officially wed.
The newlyweds posed with Michael’s father (far left) and daughter and Kate’s parents. Her mom and Jasper also wore Oscar de la Renta.
Tucked-Away Escort Cards
Lace handkerchiefs served as favors and sweet envelopes for calligraphed escort cards.
Delicate lace added a romantic air to dinner. It edged menus and tablecloths and was woven into escort-card handkerchiefs.
Making an Entrance
The bride, in a second Oscar de la Renta gown, and groom entered the reception to a chorus of cheers from their friends and family.
Guests of Honor
Seats were reserved for the bride and groom with eyelet chair banners from BHLDN.
A Creative Guest Book Idea
Instead of a guest book, partygoers signed a map of the treasure state. The couple's CM motif, used throughout the weekend, marked the spot where the wedding was held.
A Room Transformed
Granite Lodge, where everyone ate breakfast each morning of the four-day event, got a makeover with votive candles hung from twining vines. “The Martha Stewart team trans- formed the main dining room so beautifully,” says Kate. “It looked like a Midsummer Night’s Dream,” adds Michael.
A Classic Cake
The rose-adorned cake was simple but mouthwatering. the bottom tier was vanilla biscuit with pistachio buttercream; the middle, lemon biscuit with vanilla bean buttercream; and the top, coconut dacquoise with coconut buttercream
After the bride danced with her father to “Stand by Me,” Michael hit the floor with Jasper to Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors.”
Kate did say that when it came to her wedding, “Whiskey will be involved.” And it sure was: The pair gave favors of whiskey and bitters, which were wrapped in rubber-stamped paper and wax-sealed with their new monogram.
