Ryan Reynolds Reveals His Five (Hilarious) Rules for Dads in the Delivery Room
Listen up, future dads!
It's safe to say that Ryan Reynolds is becoming a pro at this whole husband-father thing. Ever since he and Blake Lively tied the knot in September 2012 and welcomed James in December 2014, the actor has rocked the role-and that includes the whole "Dad in the delivery room" part. We're sure he probably made some mistakes his first time around when James was born. But after the arrival of their second daughter in September 2016, Reynolds has it down pat, and he's sharing some advice to all the future dads out there. To give delivery room etiquette tips, Reynolds made a video with GQ.
Let's break that down:
1. Be in the Room
"You're not Don Draper," Reynolds said. Point taken.
2. Capturing the Moment
"Be judicious in the photograph you take. Because a photo of your daughter crowning, hanging on the refrigerator … that's not going to help anyone." Preach it, Reynolds.
3. What Not to Say
"So your wife will pretty much never think it's funny or charming if you tip your imaginary top hat and say, 'At your cervix.' Don't do that."
4. Know Your Place
"You really want to realize that you're the least important thing in the room. It's gonna go your wife, your baby, the doctor, the nurse, a doula if you have one, the air. God, the air…"
5. Stay Positive
"And when your wife asks if everything is okay down there, just respond in the affirmative. Don't yell, 'Better than ever!'"
It sounds like Reynolds has definitely learned from his mistakes. Luckily, he knows how to make it up to Lively when he gets into trouble.
