The big day was everything the bride and groom wanted.

It looks like Pippa Middleton really did get the wedding day of her dreams! The newlywed, who married British financier James Matthews last Saturday, never wanted a royal wedding. And after months of planning and coordinating, the bride and groom got the exact celebration they wanted.

"This is the wedding Pippa and James dreamed of," a source told People. "They said all along they wanted it to be a private family wedding at home in the beautiful countryside with their closest friends and family." While the pictures prove the couple were able to enjoy just that, they're also a reminder of just how incredible that "family wedding" was. Pippa's Giles Deacon wedding dress alone is certainly the kind of wedding style dreams are made of!

But even the most glamorous event can't avoid a few classic wedding pitfalls-like an uncomfortable best-man speech-and Pippa and James' wedding was no exception. And when the best man, Justin Johannsen, took the mic for a speech the couple chose not to preapprove, he pulled out all the cringe-inducing stops. A few cliché jokes about his own dating endeavors were followed by awkward honeymoon references and even a comment on Pippa's backside (made famous by her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress at Kate Middleton's wedding six years ago).

While reports indicated the jokes were met with polite laughter, the best man finally managed to redeem himself with a heartfelt sentiment or two. "I think I can say for everyone that you look stunning. The image of perfection," Johannsen ultimately said to Pippa. "I know that James first fell in love with your gutsiness and your spirit and then succumbed to your beauty. You make James extremely happy."

Whew! Talk about a last-minute toast recovery. Although we're guessing it would have taken more than a reprobate best man to ruin a celebration like this.
