Ashton Kutcher Gave the Sweetest Tribute to Mila Kunis
Ashton Kutcher put all the emotions on the table this weekend in a touching speech acknowledging his wife, Mila Kunis, and the couple's two children Wyatt and Dimitri. The actor, who is also known for his work with local schools and the Native Fund in his home state of Iowa, was honored with the Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award at the Ron Pearson Center in West Des Moines on Saturday, and followed his acceptance of the award with an emotional tribute-and a few jokes in true Kutcher style.
While he started things off by admitting that he was probably the first person to receive the award who had also been arrested for trying to break into his high school at age 18, he quickly got serious about the honor-and what character means to him. "It's not whether you win or lose," Kutcher said, according to Us Weekly. "It's how you learn from the mistakes that you make and how you perceive the world that's coming at you."
"As long as you have love and kindness and optimism and a pursuit of something greater in your heart, you're the lucky one," the devoted husband and father continued before directing his comments to his family and wife of two years, Kunis, who was watching from the audience. "So this award is for you. It is for my family, it's for all four of my parents, it's for my wife, who kicks my ass on character every day."
Kutcher also said his children have been the "greatest lesson in character in my life," adding, "When I had these kids, my wife and I had these kids and we got to share that amazing, amazing, amazing honor, my first response was, I wanted to call my parents and say, 'I'm sorry, because I never knew how much you loved me.'" If that isn't adorable, we don't know what is. Can we also nominate Kutcher and Kunis for a cutest couple ever award while we're at it?
