Los Angeles-based Brittany Stiles and Kyle Henderson first met in church—though she was seeing someone else at the time. But when her relationship status changed, they started dating, and six years later tied the knot. They said I do in their local Mormon temple on November 9, 2012, and celebrated the next day with an autumnal al fresco fete at a historic venue. Incorporating some of their favorite things along the way, like seasonal sweets, live music, dancing, and a certain old-school game, they designed a soiree that reflected them as a couple.

The Invitation

A classic charcoal-and-white invite designed by Simple and Pretty mixed a serif-style font and calligraphy. Since letterpress was a must, the couple balanced their budget by contacting each guest individually to see if they were able to attend instead of utilizing RSVP cards.

The Location

The Los Angeles Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints popped against the blue sky of the big day.

The Ceremony

The traditional service took place inside the temple in the late morning. Once the couple (she in an Encore by Watters dress, Allure Bridals shoes, and Shawnie Sherie headpiece, and he in a J.Crew ensemble) was officially husband and wife, they exited to the cheers and claps of friends and loved ones. "There were lots of pictures being taken and a lot of hugs and tears," Brittany recalled. "Everyone had been telling us for five years that we needed to get married, so everyone was really excited for us."

Party Frocks

Brittany wore a sparkly Aidan Mattox drape-top gown for the reception that followed the day after the temple ceremony. Her bridesmaids donned Forever 21 dresses. The bridal bouquet consisted of David Austin roses and the 'maids carried clutches of Queen Anne's lace and greenery, that Brittany fashioned together herself.

The Reception Venue

The George Key Ranch Historical Park in Placentia, California, was the perfect setting for the outdoor celebration, with its large trees, sprawling front lawn, and sizable porch. Plus, as an interior designer, the bride has a penchant for houses, and she thought it looked like a place "you would eat the best apple pie you've ever tasted," making it perfect for the fall vibe she was after.

A Special Touch

The venue boasts a bench with a heart of greenery behind it—a charming selling point for the couple when they were considering the location.

Outdoor Seating

Putting her interior design skills to good use, Brittany rented furniture from Found Vintage Rentals and bought a rug on eBay to add a cozy touch to the elegant seating area. Like the dining area, bistro-bulb lighting hung overhead.

Autumnal Accents

To celebrate the season while still keeping the wedding aesthetic cohesive, a collection of white pumpkins and gourds were set out on the venue's stairs, along with electric pillar candles, which added to the ambiance once the sunset.

Fun and Games

Whenever the couple visits Vegas, they always play one game of bingo. So they brought that fun to their reception (also keeping in mind some guests might not want to dance). They placed vintage game cards at each setting along with daubers with caps that were spray-painted black and bodies wrapped in white papers to subdue the bright colors they came in. Brittany and Kyle called out the numbers on the porch and gave prizes reminiscent of their relationship to the winners.

Simply Elegant Centerpieces

The 110 attendees sat at long tables dressed in crisp white linens and anchored by flower boxes of eucalyptus leaves, hydrangeas, and garden roses. The bride, who has done flowers for several weddings, took on the task herself, with help from her brothers and father, who built and stained the boxes too.

The Delicious Dinner

Guests dined on pulled pork tacos with cotija cheese, handmade guacamole, and chipotle-honey cabbage slaw; sweet and spicy steak tacos with homemade wontons and Asian slaw; and blistered bok choy with toasted peanuts and ponzu sauce from The Lime Truck.

The Wedding Cake

Brittany's sister made the wedding cake—her first ever, though she's a skilled baker. The simple white frosting was embellished with extra fresh blooms.

Dance Time

"No One's Gonna Love You More Than I Do" by The Band of Horses was chosen for the couple's first dance. The band is one of their favorites to see in concert, and that particular song was on a mix CD Kyle made for Brittany when they were dating.

Brittany and Kyle danced with their father and mother respectively to Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful World."

Seasonal Sweets

In addition to berry pies and caramel apples, mini pumpkin ganache cakes made by the mother-of-the-bride were on hand for dessert. The fall treats were a real crowd pleaser, and ended the day on a sweet note.
