Trending Now: Iridescent Wedding Registry Picks
Work some shimmer and shine onto your prenuptial gift list.
If you feel like your wedding registry is lacking in a bit of shimmer—but you don't want to go the super-glam sparkly route—we're here to help. We understand that it's tough to strike the perfect balance between tasteful and tacky when it comes to shinier finishes. That's why we've been thrilled to see that subtle iridescent sheens have recently seen a resurgence in the home market. Although the look can be viewed as a bit over-the-top when used with a heavy hand, we feel strongly that introducing subtle touches of iridescence into your home can add interest and whimsy in the very best way.
The trick to making iridescent pieces sophisticated? First and foremost, you'll want to treat these details just like you would products with any other shiny finish: minimally. That means you should avoid decorating every inch of your home with it. Gold, for instance, is lovely when used sparingly, but when you have a gold coffee table, all-gold frames, gold rimmed plates, and gold chairs all in the same space things can start to get a little gauche. The same goes with iridescent pieces. The perfect amount will make your space feel contemporary and unique.
Next, if you're going to add more than a couple of iridescent picks to your registry, make sure they're categorically in different spaces in your home. For instance, if you want to register for iridescent plates, don't also register for iridescent glasses and flatware (all of which could be used together during a meal). Instead, opt for a vase or candle holders or something that won't necessarily be "living" in the same space as the plates whenever they're used.
Ready to pick out some iridescent pieces of your own? We've rounded up some of our favorites—just remember, choose carefully! A little goes a long way when it comes to this trendy style.
