Hoda Kotb Asked Her Mother to Choose Her Wedding Dress
The Today Show host's mom is playing an integral role in the wedding-planning process.
For recently-engaged morning show co-host Hoda Kotb, the new year is starting off with a lot of wedding planning. During a recent appearance on Pop of the Morning, the bride-to-be was eager to share how her wedding-dress search is going, E! News notes. "Can I tell you who's picking my wedding dress?" Kotb teased. The show's Lilliana Vazquez knew immediately how to answer: "Your mom! People don't know that. Your mom styles you for the show," she confidently replied, according to People.
Sure enough, Kotb's mother—Sameha Kotb—is playing a role in helping her find a wedding dress, much the way she influences the TV personality's daily style. "If I'm wearing a good outfit, she picked it," Kotb revealed. "If I'm wearing one of the other ones, somebody else—I bought it myself."
While some brides may be wary of having their mother that involved in this major decision, Kotb was certain she wanted her mom to choose her look. The Today Show co-host recalls, "[My mother] did say to me—it was so funny, cause she's picked everything for me, and she said, 'Honey, I don't know, do you want me to pick your wedding dress?' And I said, 'Well, you picked the first one, so yes, please pick the second one!'" referencing her former marriage to Burzis Kanga. People reveals that she went on to share, "But this one is, you know, it's gonna be fun. So my mom's in charge, and I'm so happy."
As for the rest of Kotb's wedding plans, beyond the celebration's fashion choices? Preparations are full-speed ahead. The longtime journalist shared that while she won't have a full bridal party, she will include her sister in the wedding as a bridesmaid. "All I want it to be is fun and happy and I just want everybody to feel easy breezy," Kotb says.
