Beat the crowds by waking up early, and wander through the white-and-blue-trimmed streets at your leisure without the hustle and bustle. An alfresco breakfast by the beach in Little Venice is the perfect way to spend the morning.

Bali is famous for its rice terraces, which cling to the sides of hills and are part of the irrigation system. We set out at sunrise to explore Tegallalang, one of the most famous rice terraces. I'd been told that fantastic light rays sometimes dance through the trees in the mornings, but I never thought we'd be lucky enough to see them.

We regularly visit New York City's and London's Soho House, so it's exciting to see the new branch in Istanbul. The space is gorgeous—it feels like a gilded speakeasy with a glitzy rooftop pool.

For your day as a tourist, have a picnic by the Eiffel Tower—French food and wine with the backdrop of the most beautiful tower in the world. For your day as an anti-tourist, take a cooking class that brings you to the Montmarte food markets, where you'll pick out ingredients beforehand. And don't leave the city without having falafel on Rue des Rosiers, in the Jewish Quarter.

At sunset, I came across this pier being set up to host an evening meal for a couple. I shot a bunch of angles, but getting low to the ground was the most effective. From here, as the water from the most recent wave subsided, I was able to use the wet sand to create a reflection of colors. The lesson: finding a unique perspective is everything!

If you're visiting Crete, be sure to spend the day at Istro beach. The waters are turquoise and the surrounding cliffs are perfect for cliff diving. But if you don't fancy that, there are great spots all along the shore to just relax.

If you're in Rome and craving pizza, skip every spot you see and head straight for Emma. The crust is paper-thin and perfect.

It's worth getting up early to see typically crowded locations completely empty. Case in point: Kyoto's Bamboo Forest. We really got to appreciate how beautiful and well-kept it is. I felt like I had the chance to connect with the environment as we wandered through the towering bamboo shoots.

The warm rays from the first light of day illuminated these charming narrow pathways and white-washed facades. It felt like I was walking in the set of a fairytale.

Prague is one of my favorite cities. Day or night, it always looks unbelievably beautiful. And the Christmas atmosphere is amazing—the lights and colors are even more spectacular. I found a small puddle at the side of a cobbled street and used it to capture these perfect reflections.

When you're staying in Amsterdam proper, make sure to rent bikes and explore side streets along the canals. If you're looking to do a day trip outside the city, head to Gouda to explore its beautiful town square. During the spring and summer months, there's also a market dedicated solely to—I'm sure you can guess—cheese!

Eltz Castle doesn't open until 9:30 a.m., but going at sunrise means you may get some amazing colors in the sky—plus you'll beat all the tour buses. On a tour of the family-owned medieval property, you'll see suits of armor, artwork from the 1500s, and other pieces of history.

London's many markets have something for everyone. Notting Hill's Portobello Road is best known for its antiques, while Maltby Market in Bermondsey is the latest go-to for food.

Venice may be cold in the winter, but it's beautiful and a lot of fun during Carnival (February 11-28, 2017). The mulled wine helps, too!

We love seeing the sights from new perspectives and the Golden Gate Bridge never disappoints. Once you've checked all the major typical attractions off your list, head over to the newly expanded San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA). It's humungous and grand, with a white exterior that seems to almost crinkle.

There's no place like Dubai to go all out on luxury, whether you're sprinkling gold leaf on your coffee at the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah or having the hotel set up a desert safari with sand dune 4x4 racing and falconry.

Cebu, Philippines (Kawasan Falls)

I've seen hundreds of photos of the famous Kawasan Falls, so I wanted to capture an angle that I hadn't seen before. I wanted to use the lines of the bamboo rafts to draw the viewer's eyes to the photo. This adds a sense of scale and perspective, while having a person in the photo allows the viewer to empathize with the shot and picture themselves there.

Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy
Likes: 149K
After a day of cliff-top hikes in Cinque Terre National Park, we made it to the famous, picturesque fishing port of Vernazza. The colorful facades, winding maze of cobbled streets, and harbor-side views make it the crowning jewel of the Italian Rivera. We climbed our way to this viewpoint—cameras in one hand, chocolate gelato in the other—to watch the sun sink below the horizon.
