Bridal Beauty Diaries: Meet Lauren!
Well, hello there! My name is Lauren hailing from Winter Springs, Florida. For those of you who have no idea where Winter Springs is, it's just outside of Orlando. Yep, that's right. The same town the big, friendly mouse with the high-pitched voice lives. I feel so incredibly lucky and grateful to be taking part in the Martha Stewart Wedding's Bridal Beauty Diaries. I have been given the opportunity to fix something that has bothered me for a long time-my smile. As I plan my wedding, I will also be straightening my teeth with Invisalign® clear aligners. I will make it my mission to honestly convey my experiences to you.
My fiancé, Tony and I were engaged last April after six years of dating. I wouldn't describe myself as the type of bride who has envisioned her wedding day since she was a little girl. To be honest, I'm a bit analytical, and wasn't sure I even wanted to get married until meeting my fiancé. Speaking of analytical, I'm a Financial Analyst for a government defense contractor and I have only two semesters to go before completing my Master's Degree in Business Administration. Tony has worked at a local architecture firm for the past eight years and just received his Master's Degree in Architecture. I'm so proud of him!
Our wedding will be in January 2015. The ceremony will be held at the beautiful Knowles Memorial Chapel and the reception in a restored Spanish farmhouse that is now a historic home museum. Both venues perfectly reflect our taste, style, and love of architecture. I've accomplished quite a bit already and I'm excited to share that with you in my future posts. I've booked my hair stylist and makeup artist, and have selected my wedding gown, veil, and shoes. I don't have any other accessories; however, a nice set of pearly whites will be the perfect accessory for the big day.
My teeth don't look bad from afar. But, up close, my lower teeth are quite crooked and I have always felt self-conscious. I also still have a baby tooth. Yep, that's right, a BABY TOOTH! When I was young, I figured out pretty quickly that my smile resembled nothing like that of my gorgeous mother and two older sisters'. Their teeth are naturally perfect. And when I say "perfect," I'm not exaggerating. I'll also add that they haven't had any cosmetic dental work done. I, on the other hand, have not been as lucky. Traditional braces just aren't for me. I don't want them in the way when I present to management and professors at work and school. I love the idea of Invisalign treatment so that I can still look and feel like myself while straightening my teeth.
Like any other bride, I dream about being the best version of myself on my wedding day. I don't want to be self-conscious about my photographer catching a shot of me mid-sentence where you can see my lower, crooked teeth or baby tooth. I want to be able to look back at my pictures with my future children and grandchildren with admiration and fondness for the young woman I once was. Not only will having my teeth fixed empower me with confidence on my wedding day, it will also impact my life going forward, both personally and professionally.
Disclosure: I have received complimentary treatment from the Invisalign brand in exchange for blogging about my bridal journey and treatment, and all opinions expressed are my own.
