Our founder demonstrated exactly how to make this classic Polish recipe at home.

In light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, if there's one thing that everyone could use a little bit more of each day, it's good news. Actor John Krasinski liked the idea of spreading positive messages across the world, so he started a YouTube series called "Some Good News." In the most recent episode, Martha joined Krasinski, as well as actor Stanley Tucci and chefs David Chang and Guy Fieri—via video conferencing, of course—to cook some lucky viewers' favorite recipes.

Martha prepared pierogi for viewer Sara Szymanski, who shared her family's recipe which has been "passed down and edited by many generations." Martha and Krasinski are both polish and love the potato-and-cheese filled dumplings. "Your grandma's recipe is very similar to my mother's recipe, which is my go-to," said Martha.

Our founder demonstrated not only how to make her white cabbage filling but also the pillowy dough, which she kneaded by hand—no special tools necessary! She then demonstrated how to stuff and fold the pierogi for a plump bite that won't fall apart as it cooks. Even Martha's French bulldog, Bete Noir, stood closely nearby to watch her in action. After the final product was complete, Martha showed off a big pile of pierogi, complete with a nutty brown butter sauce.

In addition to the celebrity chefs cooking delicious food, the potluck-style episode did some good, too. Krasinski announced that Pepsi Co. would be donating three million dollars to Guy Fieri's fundraiser, which helps to raise money for displaced restaurant workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
