The New Home Appliances You Need to Know About in 2020
'Tis the season for new releases, and some our favorite big-name manufacturers are rolling out new appliances that have us on the edge of our seats. Along with state-of-the-art washing machines and integrated water filtration systems, 2020 will see a slew of savvy kitchen appliances, as well as a few for your pup, too. "Elkay's floor sink allows your pet easy access into the sink while allowing the owner the ability to control the pet while washing them," says Gary Israelson, the company's Senior Product Manager. "By utilizing the wall mounted faucet with the extra-long spray hose, it ensures all the water stays within the sink without the mess. The overall size of the sink makes the entire washing process quick and easy for pet owners and furry friends alike."

GE UltraFresh Front Load Washer
If you've been dreaming of a front-loading washing machine, then we have good news for you. GE Appliances just released the UltraFresh Front Load Washer (from $749, bestbuy.com), available in four sleek colorways, which was designed specifically to prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria (you won't have to wipe down the machine or leave the door open to dry after each load). "We heard our consumers loud and clear and no one wants to have to clean their washing machine before it cleans their clothes," says David Wilson, Senior Commercial Director of Clothes Care at GE Appliances. "Our engineers spent two-and-a-half years innovating, testing and perfecting a solution to make laundry chores easier and fresher."
Elkay ezH2O Liv Built-in Filtered Water Dispenser
The only thing better than a reliable home water filtration system is one that's easy on the eyes, too. Elkay recently introduced the world to the ezH2O Liv Built-in Filtered Water Dispenser, and thanks to its chic glass front design, NSF-certified filter, and sensor-activated technology (for hands-free filling), this state-of-the art water appliance is every bit as pretty as it is practical. "Imagine hosting a party where guests can help themselves to fresh, filtered water from a stylish dispenser in an entertaining space outside of the kitchen," says Blair Holly, Product Manager at Elkay. "ezH2O Liv is the first built-in filtered water dispenser that offers a sleek and stylish choice when it comes to clean drinking water."
If you thought Kohler was only good for sourcing big-ticket kitchen and bathroom appliances, then it's time to think again. Introduced in January, KOHLER Lighting (price dependent on selection, us.kohler.com) is comprised of six swanky collections featuring 200 new designs, ranging from LED chandeliers to modern farmhouse-style pendants and everything in between. "Each product was designed by Kohler with a focus on bathroom and kitchen applications, yet has the design versatility to easily carry into other areas of the home," explains Dennis Snyder, general manager at Kohler Lighting. "The result is a compelling assortment of lighting to fit most lifestyles and budgets."
Bluestar's Cutting Edge Kitchen Customization
Why settle for a bunch of humdrum appliances when you can have a kitchen filled with custom-designed options, instead? BlueStar just introduced a new cutting-edge printing process that allows any graphic, image, text, print, or pattern to be applied to a range, refrigerator, or kitchen hood, in a durable and smooth, satin-like finish that can be easily cleaned. "Not only can you match any color, but you can create any pattern, apply any photograph or replicate an original work of art for a design that is not only extremely personal to the homeowner, but can be a signature piece for the interior designer," says Eliza Sheffield, the President at BlueStar.
GE Next Gen Kitchen Hub Micro
If you were under the impression that there's no such thing as a smart-enabled kitchen, then you're mistaken. Available in late 2020, the Next Gen Kitchen Hub Micro at GE is designed with interactive AI technology—including integrated oven cameras so you can watch your food baking from another room—that makes cooking and meal prep more streamlined than ever. "We know that American families spend hours each week planning meals, but despite all that, they still waste 20% of the food they buy, which equates to about $800 a year in food waste," explains Todd Getz, the Executive Brand Director of GE and GE Profile at GE Appliances. "With new computer-vision cooking and AI technology, Kitchen Hub will make it easier for consumers to make recipes based on ingredients they already have on hand, create perfect meals that aren't overcooked, calculate nutritional values, and add groceries to their shopping list."
