Spring break is right around the corner, which means that millions of American families are gearing up to escape cold climates in favor of warm-weather destinations. While a beach vacations are extremely popular with spring breakers, where else are travelers expected to head this season? Google Travel rounded up the top ten destinations in North America based on round-trip searches from March 20, 2020 to April 6, 2020.

Perhaps the most relaxing spring break destination on the list is Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Known for its snorkeling, wildlife, and historic sites, this Caribbean island will please both adventure-seekers and beach-goers. Three Mexican cities topped the list including Los Cabos, Cozumel, and the ever-popular Cancun. In order to avoid the college crowd in Cancun, Forbes recommends that adults and families stay at an all-inclusive resort.

Known for its stunning architecture and landscapes, sunny Palm Springs is another popular destination for vacation-goers who want a combination of nature, sight-seeing, and relaxation. Forbes notes that this southern California city has become a popular site for visitors heading to Joshua Tree National Park as well. Two other land-locked cities were among the top ten. Austin, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona may be too hot in the summer, but traveling to these culturally-rich cities in March and April is much more bearable.

Of course, two cities from the Sunshine State also made the list. Fort Meyers and Sarasota, both of which are on the western coast of Florida, have beautiful beaches, as well as nearby islands that are a bit more low-key for travelers looking to escape tourists and other spring breakers. Surprisingly, not all of the locations boast sunny rays and poolside daiquiris. Vail, Colorado broke the top ten for skiers hoping to hit the slopes a few more times before the end of the season.
