I was expecting to love this, as I like all of the flavors in it. However, it was overpoweringly, cloyingly sweet from the ketchup. I would try it again using a combination of tomato sauce and tomato paste in place of the ketchup. I might also reduce the amount of sauce ingredients by a quarter or a half, as it was pretty soupy.

This is a great weeknight supper sandwich. It has complex flavor and it's sweet and savory at the same time. I loved the texture of the green apple with the saucy beef. I feel like I just had gourmet take-out!
