Peppery arugula and toasted pine nuts add grown-up flavors to a kid-friendly pasta dish. The bowties (farfalle) are always popular with kids, but you could use other short pasta shapes in this recipe, such as fusilli, orecchiette, or penne.

I love pine nuts and if you are out, you can use pepitas (roasted salted pumpkin seeds). They are good too in this dish.

BTW, I use full fat products and have lost 30 pounds since Dec 2017. High veg, high protein, low carbs.

A substitute for heavy cream would be great...there are too many fat ingredients in these recipes....substitutes for the heavy fats would be welcomed.

Fats make you fell full and are important to assimilating vitamins and minerals. Read the new studies on fat free vs fat. cience Science shows that fat free in not necessarily good and that certain veg oils when heated will make cholesterol. BTW cholesterol is hereditary. We make our own cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol has a minimal affect. Check with your doctor and new science papers.

Love the idea but hate the cream I often substitute evaporated milk and it works great without the fat!

New science shows fat free is not healthy. The body needs fat to assimilate vitamins and minerals. Fat make you feel more full. Turns out, it is carbs that are making us fat. So a small serving with cream or half and half would be more filling.

This was easy to make. I mixed in spinach. The kids loved it. My husband loved it. The peas gave it a sweet flavor. It was easy and quick. I will make this again.

Delicious, the whole family loves it (minus the arugula and pine nuts for the kids) and I usually add some shredded chicken for a complete meal. So easy too.

For little ones I would change the Arugula to baby spinach leaves and omit the pinenuts.

I would use 1/2 and half in place of heavy cream and reduce fat chichen broth.
