I'd never made any type of meringue before, yet this recipe was the perfect introduction. Directions for baking was confusing... I ended up baking the 2 layers for 2.5 hours and it was perfect. In the end the dessert tastes and looks wonderful!

i have made this several times.it requires great patience so as the meringue , does not crack.One also has to check temp. of your own oven as it varies.. and is critical to them being snow white, i myself didn't mind a slight browning.. ha ! AND if they cracked slightly i hid with the whipped cream.I usually served those after the initial presentation of the 1st perfect 1! I also use different fruits in season.I made a strawberry honey glaze and a melted chocolate topping i drizzled over top!
This looks gorgeous but totally didn't work for me. Nothing went right from beginning to end. I think the martha stewart gang needs to take another look at this recipe.
