This is the real deal. Using Kirsch is essential. Many other recipes use rum to flambé the cherries. Be not fooled! Martha has the French version of this elegant scrumptious dish. I used 1/3 cup of butter, sugar and Kirsch because I had 5 guests. This is a fantastic July dinner party dessert. Impress your family and friends with fresh cherries and ice cream.

I didn't have vanilla Ice Cream, so served this with some home made Dark Chocolate Pudding. Great combo. I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to, but I covered the pan when cherries when they were cooking to soften them. Turned out quite nice! I would definitely recommend and darken the room when you light them. They glow with a blue flame!
