Pretty Velvet Pouches

Source: Martha Stewart Living, February 2011

These slim velvet sacks are sure to make a good impression -- they're imprinted with delicate patterns from evergreen sprigs. Easily sewn from ribbon and thread, they're perfect for glasses, knitting needles, or a camera.

  • Gray velvet ribbons, 50 mm

  • Brown velvet ribbons, 24 mm

  • Purple velvet ribbons, double-faced, 75 mm

  1. Lay a sprig of greenery (we used cedar, but any sturdy evergreen will work) on a hard, heatproof surface.

  2. Position synthetic velvet on top, nap side down (velvet in picture is double-faced), and hold iron on it for 15 to 20 seconds.

  3. Stitch the sides closed, leaving a flap to close the pouch.
