  • Cut about half of the grapes in half. Spread all of the grapes in an 8-inch square baking dish. Pour Sauternes and water over grapes, and sprinkle with sugar.

  • Place dish in freezer until liquid has started to crystallize on the top and at the edges, about 1 hour. Scrape granita with fork tines, transfer to individual glasses, and serve.

Cook's Notes

This quick granita has a slushy consistency. For a coarser texture that's similar to shaved ice, freeze the granita for a total of four hours, scraping it with a fork every thirty minutes.
