Italian pork sausages are delicious in this recipe, but other sausages, such as chicken or turkey, also work well.

We LOVE this recipe in my house and we make it often. I have used all beer types from Oktoberfest, dark Lagers, IPA’s - all give slight variations but all delicious!

I've been making this for years--since I first saw the recipe. It's just as good now as it was then. Delish!
This was delicious. I could have halved the recipe to feed three people easily when served with green beans and biscuits. On it's own I still don't see how it would only serve 2 (per the previous review). Will definitely make this again.
Love this dish! My husband, a super-picky eater, asks for this constantly! Amazing how beer-braising makes Italian sausages taste sooooooo German. Very, very flavorful!
this recipe is delicious, a great winter night meal. double the recipe if you want leftovers to freeze, otherwise it is the perfect size for two people - not for 4, as indicated in the recipe.
My boyfriend and I really like this recipe. So far we've done it a few different ways. One of which include taking it camping. Our favorite is to use Fat Tire beer (we usually use a little more beer and less water than the recipe for a really rich flavor), hot sausage (not italian), extra onions, and a potato medley (purple, gold, red and white potatoes-it makes for a pretty presentation).
I have made this three times and it is delicious! I use chicken sausage and add extra onions.
