Basket-Weave Bouquet Wrap

Add a distinctive detail to your bridal bouquet with a woven ribbon handle. The ribbons should blend with the colors of the blooms they hold -- here, white and cream sweet peas, white lilac, yellow ranunculus, viburnum, and blue forget-me-nots.

  1. Wrap stems entirely with floral tape. Cover tape by wrapping with 2-inch-wide satin ribbon, working from bottom up. Secure at top with sequin pin. Cut 3 pieces of 3/8-inch-wide wired ribbon: One should be the length of the stems, plus 5 inches; the others should be double that. Lay ribbons along stems to make 5 evenly spaced vertical bands; pin at top and bottom.

  2. Beginning at the bottom, weave a single 3/16-inch-wide double-faced satin ribbon through the vertical bands.

  3. Pin loose end at top with a sequin pin; trim excess. Hide ends with a bow made from the wired ribbon.
