Winter Wear for Dogs

The Martha Stewart Show, December 2010

Dogs, just like people, need coats and sweaters to stay warm during cold winter weather.

Pets with short, thin hair or no hair at all are particularly in need of protection from the elements, while those with long, thick fur may be able to tolerate a significant amount of cold before requiring extra layers of warmth.

Dress your dog in style this winter with picks from "The Martha Stewart Show" producer Barbara Fight.

Refashioned Varsity Hockey Jacket
Made by Black Baron Kingdom Apparel, this clever coat was re-created from a retro high school hockey jacket. The jacket is prewashed, preshrunk, and preworn by humans. As an added bonus, a portion of Black Baron Kingdom Apparel proceeds is donated to various pet charities.

Quilted Barn and Space Dye Sweaters
A charming dog bone design is stitched into the quilted Barn sweater, which features adjustable straps at the neck and chest to ensure a perfect fit. The Space Dye sweater, made from acrylic yarn, is designed with four working wood buttons on the underside that let it slip easily over the dog's head. Both are part of the Martha Stewart Pets for PetSmart line and are machine-washable. Shown with fabric leash.
