There's so much about spring for little ones to love, from picking freshly blooming flowers to jumping through puddles caused by April's showers. Not always as fun? Waiting oh-so-patiently for the Easter bunny to arrive. Luckily, we've rounded up our all-time favorite kids' crafts and spring-themed activities to keep them busy and hoppily entertained until the big egg hunt.

Let them decorate this charming gardener's basket, perfect for stashing candy, colored eggs, and miniature toys. Or, have kids help assemble a basket full of these envelope bunnies by gluing on pom-pom noses, then filling them up with chocolate-wrapped eggs and other fun goodies. Little hands will even adore helping out with our kid-friendly egg-decorating techniques, from these coloring book eggs (they choose the clip art, you do the at-home printing) to our painted wooden eggs, which open to a few treasures tucked away within. These sticker eggs—a cinch to embellish—really shine when nestled among the grass or hidden in natural nooks. A cute party idea everyone will love? Surprise bunnies! Made out of crepe paper streamers plus cutesy facial features and floppy ears, these favors are sure to delight guests of ages when filled with candies and other small treats.

And the fun doesn't have to stop once the eggs have been found. Invite kids to learn about seed-starting and feed their budding green thumbs with our eggshell flower pots how-to. All you'll need are a few coffee-stirrers for labeling the seedlings, and an empty egg carton to reuse as the potholders.

However you decide to get crafty with the kids this holiday, these ideas and activities are guaranteed to be eggcellent fun.

Plant Eggshell Flower Pots

Young gardeners can use eggshells as pots to start seeds and coffee-stirrer tags to foretell what will pop up where. Plant seeds according to package instructions, and nestle planters in an egg carton on a sunny windowsill, where they can be watered easily. The first leaves to sprout will be the cotyledons or seed leaves, which supply nutrients to the young plant until the first true leaves (resembling those of the parent plant) appear. When plants have grown to about three inches and have at least two sets of true leaves, they are ready to be transplanted to the garden. Just be sure to remove them from the eggshells first.

Make Crepe Paper Carrots

Credit: Courtesy of Kate Mathis

A kids craft that the Easter bunny will love? These crepe paper carrots are sure to please. To make them, loosely wrap an orange streamer to form the carrot shape, making it thicker at the top. Tuck in gifts as you work. Press the end of the paper down into the top. Then, fold the green crepe paper in half across its grain. Download leaf template, and trace onto the folded paper. Cut out and bunch up. Finally, tuck the leaves into the carrot top then secure with a dab of hot glue.
