Traditionally, fruitcake was served at weddings to wish the newlyweds fertility and happiness. Bring back the custom by serving a fig-and-almond cake -- a Spanish delicacy often paired with manchego cheese. Before dessert, have waiters offer slices of the cake and cheese, or place a platter such as the one above on each reception table.
