On the Border

Hemstitched linens are twice as nice when you add a colorful ribbon trim.

  • Hemstitched linens

  • Ribbon

  • Tapestry needle

  • Scissors


  1. Determine the combined length of the hemstitched border on all sides of each napkin, add 5 inches, and cut a narrow ribbon to that length. Starting at one corner, weave ribbon through the openings at regular intervals using a tapestry needle. When you return to the beginning, knot ribbon ends, and trim excess.
