Push points of 5/16-inch-wide brass nails into cardboard; those with a matte finish are best for painting. Prime, and paint with spray paint made for use on metal; let dry. Apply a second coat if necessary.
Enlarge template to desired size. Cut out and center template on drawer; adhere to drawer with painters' tape. With a small cordless drill and a bit that is slightly smaller than the nail shank, drill holes through template. (If your bureau is made of a soft wood, such as pine, you may not need to drill.) Remove template.
Tap nails into holes with a nylon-tipped hammer. Repeat for remaining drawers.
