"An Eye for Beauty" with Evelyn

Evelyn Lauder, a New York City–based photographer whose works are displayed in such places as the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, came to notice with a collection titled “The Seasons Observed.” The follow-up folio, “An Eye for Beauty,” further explores the beauty inherent in nature, turning a closely focused lens on a variety of large and small objects to reveal patterns in tree barks, the rhythm of snowdrifts, the interaction of nature and man-made landscapes, and other phenomena. Evelyn, who also founded the Breast Cancer Research Center and the Evelyn Lauder Breast Center at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, travelled to far-flung locales such as Angel Falls in Venezuela; Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier; Havana, Cuba; and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. All royalties from her book will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
