For me, the perfect brownie is dense, fudgy, loaded with chocolate, and made from scratch. It takes only a few more minutes to stir up butter, chocolate, sugar, eggs, flour, and cocoa than to use a mix, and the results are unmistakably better. From there, you decide whether to add nuts, chocolate chips, espresso powder, or a cream-cheese swirl for brownies that taste best to you.
