steps
-
Use a hand pruner to cut bamboo strips into two-foot lengths. Give the ends sharp points so that they will easily enter the soil by making your cuts at an angle.
-
Insert the bamboo sticks 6 inches apart, so the sticks lean toward each other at about a 45-degree angle, and bind them together with garden twine at the points at which they intersect. Martha uses a simple over-and-under knot, secured by a square knot.
-
Cut off the tops of the bamboo sticks 3 inches above the ties.
