January's Power Food: Grapefruit

-One grapefruit has about 25 percent of your daily fiber needs. By eating the segments whole, you'll get 50 percent more fiber, contributing to healthy digestion.

-Grapefruit is full of vitamin C, a major antioxidant that helps fight infection and may shorten the duration of colds.

-Red and pink grapefruit contain lycopene, which is associated with reduced risk of cancer and heart disease.

-Grapefruits also offer potassium and folate. Folate is an important nutrient for pregnant women and may help ward off depression and memory loss.
