Anne Clark Holt, a landscape designer and mother of five, spent 25 years working on a garden on Bainbridge Island in Washington before she died.

Now her son, Bruce Clark, works to preserve the garden of rhododendrons and Japanese maples as a kind of living testimonial to Anne's life.

"My mother believed deeply in the value of the natural world as essential, renewing to our lives," Bruce Clark says. "And she believed it was good to make a mark on the world of growing things."
