The Royal Family Just Shared the Recipe for Their Favorite Christmas Cookie! Learn How to Bake a Batch Today

These Cinnamon Star cookies look so delicious!

Even if you're not spending your Christmas at Buckingham Palace, you can still enjoy the same sweet treats as the royal family. On Saturday, the royal family shared a video for their favorite Christmas cookie recipe. "The Royal pastry chefs are excited to share their recipe for 'Cinnamon Stars' with you to enjoy over Christmas. #ARoyalChristmas," the palace wrote in their caption.

The Christmas cookies are made with citrus meringue, ground almonds, mixed peel, lemon zest, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. First, icing sugar, egg whites, and lemon juice are whipped to a soft meringue. Next, finely ground almonds, mixed citrus peel, lemon zest, and spices are added to the meringue to create a flavorful dough. The dough is rolled out and more meringue is spread on top of the dough, then individual shapes such as stars and diamonds are cut out and baked.

Followers were quick to compliment the intricately designed cut-out cookies. "These are traditional Christmas cookies in Switzerland called Zimtsterne :) Very pleased to see that even the Royal Family is enjoying it!" wrote one user. Another called the cookies "scrumptious" and wrote "Thank you for the recipe! We are baking these today!"

Of course, users had some questions about where to purchase the specific cookie cutter used in the video and how long the cookies will keep. While the royals haven't shared the exact name of the cookie cutter, they did let users know that "the Cinnamon Stars will keep in an airtight container for up to two months. Enjoy!"
